Thursday morning, the National Hockey League has announced that John Tavares will be representing the New York Islanders in the 2012 All-Star Weekend. This not only includes the All-Star game, but the other festivities as well, such as the speed challenge, fastest slap shot and other various challenges.
Tavares, at only 21 years of age, leads his team with 39 points. Those points consist of 14 goals and 25 assists through only 40 games. This is Tavares’ first All-Star appearance despite leading his team in points the past two seasons after being drafted first overall in 2009.
Catch Tavares at the NHL All-Star Weekend from Ottawa on January 26th through January 29th. The game itself will be broadcasted on January 29th from NBC Sports Network (formerly known as Versus).
