With the NFL in full-swing and MLB Regular Season coming to a close in dramatic fashion on Thursday, Twitter has been all…a-Twitter.

Let’s take a look at what happened, as told through the tweets.

YANKEES

The Yankees won the AL East and defeated the Red Sox in their final series of the season.

The Bronx Bombers were set to face off against Justin Verlander last night. But Mother Nature had a different plan.

METS

While the Mets were not looking at a trip to the post-season, short stop Jose Reyes was eyeing the National League batting average title. His bunt single in the first inning of the season finale on Thursday was received with mixed opinions. RA Dickey defended his teammate, while also saying goodbye (?).

Thursday night’s dramatic finish to the 2011 MLB regular season was capped off with a Jonathan Papelbon blown save and an Evan Longoria home-run. It was one of the best night’s of baseball in recent memory.

One former pitcher and a current NFL player weighed in on the finale:

GIANTS

The Giants defeated their division rivals in Philly and got their revenge after last year’s so-called “Miracle at the Meadowlands”.

Wide receiver Mario Manningham wanted to make sure Giants fans knew he would be ready for Week 4 in Arizona. He sat out last weekend due to a concussion.

JETS

The Jets lost a tough one in the Black Hole and were also forced to place several players on IR this week.

Despite it all, hope remains high. All-Pro Center Nick Mangold is still recovering from a high-ankle sprain and may return to the field this Sunday.

And who can forget Joe Namath’s commentary on Rex Ryan and the Jets. Thanks a lot for the support, Joe.

The Jets head to Baltimore on Sunday for Sunday Night Football on NBC.

You can catch the Giants on Sunday at Arizona for the 4:15 game and the Yankees will continue Game 1 of the ALDS tonight at 8:37pm.
