Yankees closer Mariano Rivera was hurt before Thursday’s game while shagging balls in the outfield during batting practice.
It appeared he may have twisted his knee, as the early diagnosis is that he suffered a sprained knee. Rivera underwent an MRI Thursday night, and was diagnosed with a torn ACL and torn meniscus.
For the moment, it’s safe to say the 42-year-old will be out of action for a little bit. His career, though, could be over.
